Dominant D2 Transfer Philip Alston Commits to Loyola Chicago

On Saturday, Drew Valentine and his Loyola Chicago staff received some big news, as transfer forward Philip Alston committed to the Ramblers.

“Them being one of the first schools to really recruit me hard once I get entered the portal and have kept up with me the hardest and the most throughout the process,” Alston told The Portal Report. “So them really making sure I knew how much of a priority I was to them helped and just the winning culture they have there is different. They are a great overall program academically, the city of Chicago is amazing, and the coaching staff is super young and relatable.”

Alston, a 6-foot-6, 225-pound forward, averaged 21 points and 10.8 rebounds last season for California University of Pennsylvania (D2). In the end, Alston’s recruiting process escalated quickly, as Pitt, Ole Miss, and many other division one programs recruited Alston since he entered the portal, but once he checked out Loyola’s campus, he knew he was home.

Alston told TPR that he affirmed the Loyola staff of his commitment while on his official visit over the weekend.
