After a two-year stint at Wichita State, Ricky Council IV is heading to the SEC to play at Arkansas under Eric Musselman. The Razorbacks secured the commitment of Council over finalists Kansas, Iowa State, Alabama, Georgia Tech, and Mississippi State.

The 2022 AAC Sixth Man of the Year was a staple in the scoring column this past season, averaging 12.0 points on 43.7 percent shooting, including 17 double-digit scoring outings and a career-high 31 points in a win over UCF. Council also recorded a career best in rebounds and assists, pulling down 5.4 boards and dishing 1.6 dimes per game.

The Durham, NC native was a member of the American Athletic Conference’s All-Freshman Team in 2021 and one of just three players in the conference to average 20+ points-per-40 during AAC action.

Council becomes the fifth portal pledge for Arkansas this offseason, accounting for the 13th and final scholarship for the Razorbacks. Although First Team All-SEC selection Jaylin Williams is testing the NBA Draft waters, Eric Musselman is building a loaded roster that includes 11 newcomers for the 2022-2023 season.

As Council heads to Fayetteville to continue his career, he brings experience, athleticism, and shot-making ability to what projects to be a talented backcourt. The 6-foot-6 guard will have three years of eligibility remaining after removing his name from the NBA Draft.
