On Thursday, head coach Darris Nichols added another big piece to his Radford hoops program, bringing in former five-star prospect and Villanova guard Bryan Antoine.

Just weeks after Villanova head coach Jay Wright announced his retirement, the former five-star recruit Antoine has announced he would enter the transfer portal following three seasons with the Wildcats.

Antoine, the No. 17 overall recruit in the class of 2019 (247 Sports), dealt with injuries throughout his Villanova career including shoulder surgery, a serious knee injury, and other various issues, all of which have been setbacks preventing Antoine from breaking out as expected.

Antoine appeared in over 45 games, averaging 1.5 points, 0.9 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game while shooting 48% on two-point attempts. At 6-foot-5, the guard known for his explosiveness. If he can get back to full strength health-wise, Antoine should be a key contributor for Radford, which has had a very strong offseason in the portal.

The Highlanders have now landed Antoine, Onye Ezeakudo (Pittsburgh), DaQuan Smith (Murray State), Souleymane Koureissi (Richmond), and Madiaw Niang (Florida Atlantic) from the transfer portal this offseason, and will look to build on their 11-18 record from last year, head coach Darris Nichols’ first year at the helm.
