Farrell: Programs to Watch for Former Five Stars, Georgia Transfers Amarius Mims and Clay Webb

When you win a national title, you obviously have a ton of roster talent. In this day and age that can lead some players heading to the transfer portal, and that’s what is happening to Georgia. On Sunday two former 5-star offensive linemen, tackle Amarius Mims and guard/center Clay Webb, are looking for new homes.

Both have impressive talent and I have Mims as a 4 star transfer and Webb as a 3 star transfer years removed from their high school rankings. Mims wants to play tackle somewhere as UGA tried to find room for him at guard and he balked while Webb can play center or either guard position. Neither got much playing time (Mims is a 2021 prospect, Webb is 2019) but both will be popular.

Mims had a great relationship with FSU offensive line coach Alex Atkins before choosing UGA and the Noles, Miami, UCF, South Carolina, Penn State and others are showing early interest. Most feel this could come down to FSU and Miami.

As for Webb, UCF, Penn State, Indiana, USC and some others are showing early interest. He’s harder to read than Mims because his recruitment was so long ago but he’s a Power Five talent for sure.

Stay tuned for more.
