On Friday night, SMU transfer Kendric Davis announced that he will be committing to Memphis. Davis made the commitment known on the RP3 Natural Show.

“After giving it great thought and praying about it I’ve finally made my decision. I’m excited for this next chapter! I would like to thank all of my supporters, coaches and friends,” Davis said on Twitter.

Davis explained to Rashad Phillips why he decided to choose Memphis.

“This situation was different because I needed that stage. I wanted to go somewhere where I’m familiar with. Memphis was the best choice because who wouldn’t want to play for coach Penny,” Davis said.

Davis spent three seasons at SMU under Tim Jankovich. The 5-foot-11 guard averaged 19.4 points, 3.8 rebounds and 4.4 assists, earning the AAC Player of the Year this past season. Davis will head to Memphis with one year of eligibility left.
