Who are the Best Fits for Mississippi State Transfer Rocket Watts?

Published

on

On April 18, Mississippi State guard Rocket Watts announced that he would be entering the transfer portal. The Detroit native is already familiar with the transfer portal as he left Michigan State in 2021. Here are some schools that I think would fit Watts:

Detroit Mercy

Watts is a Detroit native. Joining the Titans would fill a gap left by star guard Antoine Davis who announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal. A mid-major like Detroit Mercy would be a great fit for Watts as he’s struggled the last few seasons at high major schools.

Missouri

The Tigers new head coach Dennis Gates has been on a tear in the transfer portal. When Gates was an assistant coach at Florida State he was a primary recruiter for Watts. Gates took Watts on an official visit in Tallahassee.

Western Michigan

Another mid-major school in the state of Michigan. Watts would get immediate playing time and have a guaranteed starting spot. In addition to that, former Michigan State assistant coach Dwayne Stephens is now the head coach of Western Michigan.

SMU

Playing in the AAC would be a step down from competition. Watts would be able to flourish in SMU’s offense that is guard heavy. Kendric Davis is a perfect example of what Watts could eventually be.

Oral Roberts

There’s really no connection between Watts and Oral Roberts but he would be a perfect fit for their offense. With Max Abmas leaving for the NBA, it would leave an open spot for another guard.
