Louisville, Tennessee, Gonzaga Going Hard After ISU Transfer Tyrese Hunter

Iowa State freshman standout Tyrese Hunter entered the transfer portal last month, shocking everyone. Hunter cut down his list to six schools on April 26.

Hunter is considering Louisville, Kansas, Purdue, Gonzaga, Tennessee and Texas.

Last weekend, Hunter visited Tennessee and is expected to make a visit to Gonzaga in Spokane this weekend. Louisville has reportedly pulled ahead as a favorite for Hunter as there’s some definite interest there. Kansas is expected to make a hard push for Hunter as well.

During his one season at Ames, Hunter averaged 11.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 4.9 assists in 35 starts. Hunter was a member of the 2021-22 Big 12 All-Freshman team and was crowned the Big 12 Rookie of the Year.

“At 6-foot, Hunter is known as an athletic playmaker who will blow by defenders in the lane with his quickness and can score at the rim with ease all of which has made him one of the top transfers to enter the portal this offseason,” TPR’s Riley Frain said.
