The transfer portal gives but it also takes and it can take your soul. Here are my five biggest losses from teams this cycle.
1. WR Jordan Addison, Pitt
Pitt still has talent in the passing game but let’s be real — losing the Biletnikoff winner and a touchdown machine hurts a ton when breaking in a new quarterback. Pitt can’t afford to lose players like this and this was a crushing blow by USC.
2. RB Jahmyr Gibbs, Georgia Tech
Georgia Tech needs speed on offense and Gibbs was the fastest and most dynamic player they had in the run and passing game. Alabama just stole their heart and soul.
3. DL Mehki Wingo, Missouri
Young defensive line talent is very important and hard to find so when a freshman impacts well and then leaves for a bigger program (LSU) it’s a massive loss.
4. OT Tyler Steen, Vanderbilt
Vanderbilt is awful and they can’t afford to lose an elite offensive lineman who should play right away at Alabama.
5. QB Caleb Williams, Oklahoma
This may seem low but OU landed Dillon Gabriel so that helps. But still losing a potential Heisman candidate hurts and losing him to USC and your former coach is tough.
