Ranking the Top Available WRs in the Portal

The focus recently has been the running backs in the portal but how about those wide receivers? There is still some serious talent out there.

1. Deion Smith – LSU

Unlike the other players on this list, Smith has been in the portal for months. There were rumors that he might return to LSU since he stayed on campus into the spring, but he did not participate in the team’s practices. So where will he likely end up?  The rumors for a couple of months now is that he will return to his home state of Mississippi and play for the Rebels but now I’m hearing JUCO all the way for the talented wide out. A JUCO in Mississippi is likely and then perhaps a placement with the Rebels after that. Other schools like Penn State, South Carolina, Arizona State, Oregon and Houston continue to try to change that outcome.

2. Demond Demas – Texas A&M

Demas would be higher on this list if not for his current legal issues as he faces charges for assault. Most schools seem to be taking a wait-and-see approach before recruiting Demas more actively, but this point some of the schools that have reached out include Tennessee, Utah, Arizona, Utah State, Troy, Appalachian State, Eastern Michigan, Jackson State and Alabama A&M.

3 Kaemen Marley – Tennessee

This is a unique one, as Marley has the physical ability to play a number of positions so it is still unclear where on the field he will play at his next stop. He has also remained extremely quiet since entering the portal more than five months ago. However, a few schools to keep an eye on are NC State, South Carolina, East Carolina and Appalachian State.

4. Joshua Moore – Texas

Moore seemed set with his future college destination after he committed to SMU, but a couple of months later the two sides parted ways. Now back on the market for a couple of weeks, he has gained new interest from Kentucky, Auburn, Oklahoma State, Arkansas State and UConn.

5. Dom Dutton — South Carolina

This is an interesting one as he’s a track guy now being recruited to play college football. He runs a 10.52 100 and a 21.01 200 meter and he has a VMI offer and preferred walk on offers from Memphis, WKU and JMU. He’s also talking to UCONN, Louisiana, Arkansas State, Hawaii, UMass, Troy, Old Dominion and others.
