Biggest Portal Losses for Each Big 12 Program

The transfer portal giveth. We know this. But it can surely take away as well. Let’s take a look at the biggest portal loss for each school starting with the Big 12.

Baylor — QB Gerry Bohanon

Blake Shapen won the job but losing Bohanon still stings as he was a very talented QB and possible backup. This is a great get for Jeff Scott at USF.

Iowa State — S Isheem Young

Ole Miss adds talent as Young has a very high ceiling and was a star for the Cyclones. Chris Partridge did a great job here landing him over USC and Texas A&M.

Kansas — OL Corey Robinson

Headed to Georgia Tech he didn’t make an impact at Kansas but losing big men is never ideal and he obviously has Power Five talent. He was a nice get from Georgia out of HS.

Kansas State — LB Branden Jennings

Jennings has been an enigma spurning his legacy at FSU, de-committing from Michigan and leaving Maryland after a good freshman season. Now he’s leaving K State to go back home to UCF. He may never pan out but his talent is unquestioned. He’s a freaky athlete.

Oklahoma — QB Caleb Williams

This doesn’t need explanation as the new USC quarterback followed Lincoln Riley and left a massive question mark at the position.

Oklahoma State — CB Tanner McAllister

He’s following DC Jim Knowles to Ohio State and could start. He was a huge part of the defense last season.

TCU — DE Ochaun Mathis

This is a tough one because RB Zach Evans to Ole Miss hurts too but the elite edge rusher heading to Nebraska stings even more.

Texas — QB Casey Thompson

Some may disagree as Quinn Ewers and Hudson Card are just fine, but Thompson is the only one who established himself in live action and they could regret his loss to Nebraska.

Texas Tech — DL Nelson Mbanasor

Injury knocked him out last season but he’s been a part of the rotation for a few years and heads off to Louisiana.

West Virginia — DL Akheem Mesidor

This one hurts as he was a big part of the defense and will be an immediate contributor for the Miami Hurricanes.
