Long Island F Isaac Kante Returns to Portal

On Wednesday, Long Island forward Isaac Kante returned to the transfer portal, three weeks after the Sharks fired head coach Derek Kellogg. Kante, who has previous stops at Georgia and Hofstra, spent just one season in the Northeast Conference.

The 6-foot-8 senior made an immediate impact with the Sharks, scoring in double figures for the third consecutive season. Kante recorded 12.0 points and 7.4 rebounds, while shooting 53.6 percent from the floor.

The Brooklyn, NY native has been a staple at the mid-major level, starting all 87 contests between his three seasons at Hofstra and LIU. For his career, Kante averages 10.9 points and 7.5 rebounds, connecting on 58.1 percent of his shots.

Kante becomes the second Shark to enter the portal following the coaching change, joining First Team All-Northeast Conference Selection Eral Penn. As the college basketball offseason comes to a close, Kante has little time to find a home, one in which he could become a difference maker.
