Farrell: Each Big Ten Team’s Biggest Transfer Loss

The transfer portal giveth we know this. But it can sure taketh away as well. Let’s take a look at the biggest portal loss for each school continuing with the Big Ten.

Illinois — TE Daniel Barker

Illinois did well not losing a ton in the portal but Barker has obviously talent and stays in the Big Ten at Michigan State.

Indiana — QB Michael Penix Jr

He struggled badly last season but we saw what he could do in 2020 and Washington could benefit here if he’s healthy.

Iowa — QB Deuce Hogan

Kentucky gets the Iowa QB who had some promise but Iowa didn’t lose a ton overall.

Maryland — DL Darrell Jackson

The Terps lost a lot in the portal but I think Jackson has the most upside. He’s off to Miami.

Michigan — S Jordan Morant

He was a nice get out of high school and should help the Mississippi State secondary early.

Michigan State — LB Quavaris Crouch

The Spartans didn’t lose a ton on the portal so Crouch gets the nod here as he had so much potential at one time.

Minnesota — RB Mar’Kiese Irving

There is depth at running back so this isn’t a massive loss but this kid has talent and Oregon needed him.

Nebraska — DL Casey Rogers

He’s not amazing but he’s a big body and can plug so this loss to Oregon stings a little.

Northwestern — S Brandon Joseph

This is easy as he takes his All American talents to Notre Dame.

Ohio State — QB Quinn Ewers

Ohio State will be fine at QB but Ewers is a special talent who headed back to Texas.

Penn State — RB Noah Cain

Cain is an excellent short yardage back and touchdown maker headed off to play for LSU.

Purdue — RB Sampson James

This kid has a ton of talent and upside and will find a home sooner than later.

Rutgers — OL Raiqwon O’Neal

Rutgers didn’t lose a ton but the big tackles upside will be welcome at UCLA.

Wisconsin — RB Jalen Berger

He was in hot water at Wisconsin but he is also an exceptional talent transferring within the Big Ten to Michigan State.
