The latest on some recent additions to the transfer portal as we speed towards the December window.
WR Melquan Stovall – Colorado State
The offers keep rolling in for Stovall, who has added Ball State, New Mexico State and Alabama A&M in recent days. When asked, he did mention that he does not have any visits scheduled at this point but is close to turning his focus to that part of his process.
DB Tywan Francis – Colorado State
Francis had been rather quiet in recent weeks, but ended that silence a couple of days ago by an announcement of his first P5 offer from Virginia. The Cavaliers had been involved almost immediately since his entry into the portal, then did its due diligence before officially offering the grad-transfer who has totaled 176 tackles during his collegiate career. Virginia has a need for some immediate secondary help in 2023, so look for a visit from Francis in the coming weeks and some ensuing pressure to end his process.
OL/DL Tyler Manoa – UCLA
Just like Francis picked up his first P5 offer this week, Manoa did the same on Tuesday night when Oregon State officially joined the chase. San Jose State had been his only other West Coast offer to this point, so now the option to stay closer to home and still play at the P5 level puts the Beavers in a good position at this time.
OL Logan Brown – Wisconsin
The Wisconsin transfer ended his process with a commitment to Kansas on Sunday. This is yet another nice addition by the Jayhawks, which did an impressive job during the last cycle adding players like linebacker Craig Young (Ohio State), defensive end Lonnie Phelps (Miami-Ohio) and defensive back Marvin Grant (Purdue), who have all been important parts of the defensive unit this season. Brown has a chance to be the anchor of the offensive line in 2023 along with Kobe Baynes (Louisville) who was an addition in late August.
DB Charles Amankwaa – Akron
Amankwaa is just starting to get into his new recruiting process after recently entering the portal with a few early D2 offers and interest from several other schools. One school to keep an eye on is Rutgers with his younger brother, Thomas Amankwaa, signing with the Scarlet Knights as part of the Class of 2022. The elder Amankwaa had to deal with injuries this season, which slowed his production, but he was impressive in 2021 with 48 tackles, four tackles for a loss, three interceptions and nine pass break-ups.
DL Devin Phillips – Colorado State
Since entering the transfer portal a few days ago, Phillips has quickly become one of the hotter available names. He has already picked up offers from Western Kentucky, Arkansas State, Old Dominion and Sam Houston, while numerous other programs are taking a very close look. A few of these to keep an eye on in the coming weeks include Louisiana Tech, Utah State, Marshall, Jacksonville State, Temple, San Diego State, James Madison, Nevada and Troy. Also, a few P5 schools that are also involved include Virginia Tech, Rutgers, Baylor and Oregon State.
