Farrell: Expect These Jackson State Players To Follow Deion Sanders to Colorado

Deion Sanders changes it all in college football and especially the portal. Who will go with him from Jackson State?

I’ve been told anyone he wants will go with him. But there’s one caveat people don’t understand. Colorado has academic restrictions. So a lot depends on the academic standing of some of his players at Jackson State. I can tell you this, his son Shedeur will be following. I have no idea of his academics but this was a clear must when he took the job and I’ve been told Shedeur will be the starter for two seasons most likely. He’s not an immediate NFL prospect and will hone his craft in Boulder for as long as Deion is there.

Travis Hunter? I’ve heard he’s going as well. But he will have a ton of options and a ton of NIL offers so this could play out. And remember, this is a Southeast kid who has never seen the cold. The same can’t be said for WR Kevin Coleman as he was a 4-star out of HS in Missouri so he’s played in cold weather. But he had a ton of offers and isn’t a lock to follow either although I hear he wants to. Others who could follow include standout DE Nyles Gaddy, RB Sy’Veon Wilkerson, WR Shane Hooks and LB Aubrey Miller Jr. But let’s be clear, we don’t know the academic standing of these players, some have already transferred once and honestly we don’t know if some are good enough to be taken from FCS to a Power Five rebuild.

And we all know Deion will have recruiting and portal prospects beating down his door initially and he has a large 2023 recruiting class he’s inheriting. Some major roster decisions are ahead for Prime Time.
