Over the summer, Fardaws Aimaq was the name to know in the transfer portal after he decided to leave Utah Valley and test the waters of the portal.
Aimaq, a two-time WAC Defensive Player of the Year, averaged 18.9 and 13.6 rebounds per game last season for UVU before entering the portal. He then fielded a crowded recruitment, with schools like Arkansas, Houston, Texas Tech, and Houston coming after him hard.

Aimaq stands at 6-foot-11, 245 pounds and began his career at Mercer in the SoCon. He then played two seasons at Utah Valley, averaging 10+ rebounds both seasons and shooting 49% from two and 45% from three in his two seasons there.
He eventually settled on Texas Tech, committing to Mark Adams’ Red Raiders. However, Aimaq suffered a foot injury before the season, and after initially being expected to return for the season, he was ruled out until at least February. Aimaq did not play a single game in a Red Raider uniform.
Now, according to Stadium’s Jeff Goodman, Aimaq intends to once again hit the portal in search of a new home.
