Sonny Cumbie’s Portal Class Shining in Early Season Action

Louisiana Tech had one of the top transfer portal classes in the country this offseason, bringing in difference makers on both sides of the ball from all levels of college football.

Now, six weeks into the season, the Bulldogs’ transfer class is punching above its weight class and producing at an elite level.

NO. 3 OVERALL CLASS

Louisiana Tech’s transfer class ranks third in all of college football in TPR’s transfer class scoring system so far this year, behind only Colorado and Texas State. This class, led by a strong defensive portal haul, has put up 345.5 defensive TPR fantasy points so far, ranking second in the nation, behind Colorado.

TOP TRANSFERS

Myles Heard

Heard, a Stephen F. Austin transfer, has 60 tackles so far this season, with 30 solo tackles to his name. He has 3.5 tackles for loss, three passes defended, and one QB hurry. He is the Bulldogs’ top portal producer so far this year with 99 TPR fantasy points.

Brevin Randle

Randle, who also came over from SFA, has been a machine early on this year as well. He has eight tackles for loss out of his 46 total tackles (23 solo). He has two sacks, two passes defended, and one QB hurry.

Jeslord Boateng

The third leading portal producer on Louisiana Tech’s roster so far is Boateng, an Akron transfer who has 39 tackles (12 solo) this season. Boateng also has 5.5 tackles for loss and a sack.

Tyre Shelton

The Miami OH transfer Shelton is the top offensive player on the list for La. Tech. Shelton has rushed for 318 yards this year with three touchdowns to his name.

Hank Bachmeier

Bachmeier, the QB, is a Boise State transfer. He has thrown five touchdown passes this year, and has surpassed the 750+ passing yard mark.

Zach Zimos

Zimos, a former Arkansas linebacker, has 25 tackles, three TFL, and one sack so far this season.
