Ranking the 10 Best Transfers in College Football This Season

Boston College QB Thomas Castellanos has been the top transfer portal addition of the year in college football.

Let’s dive into the top ten college football transfer performers of the season through eight weeks of action.

10. SAM HARTMAN – NOTRE DAME

Hartman has been a stud for the Irish. The former Wake Forest standout has completed 64% of his pass attempts for 1,838 yards and 18 touchdowns (2nd among transfers) this season.

9. CHANDLER ROGERS – NORTH TEXAS

Rogers, a UL Monroe transfer, has thrown for 1,762 yards and 14 touchdowns this year. He also has three rushing touchdowns and over 150 yards on the ground.

8. JORDAN MCCLOUD – JAMES MADISON

McCloud has the Dukes at 7-0 this year. He has thrown for 1,696 yards and 15 touchdowns, while also running for three touchdowns and nearly 200 yards.

7. DJ UIAGALELEI – OREGON STATE

Uiagalelei has had a tremendous year for the No. 11 Beavers, who haven’t been ranked this high since 2012. DJ has 1,573 passing yards and 15 passing TDs to go along with five rushing touchdowns.

6. EMORY JONES – CINCINNATI

Jones has completed 62.5% of his pass attempts for 1,484 yards and 13 touchdowns. The ASU transfer has also rushed for 400+ yards and three scores.

5. DONOVAN SMITH – HOUSTON

Smith has been a weapon for the Cougars, throwing for 1,978 yards and 16 touchdowns on the year with just four picks. Smith has added 185 yards and four touchdowns on the ground as well.

4. RAY DAVIS – KENTUCKY

Davis is our highest-rated running back transfer so far this year. He has churned out 781 rushing yards and eight scores on the ground, while also catching 15 passes for 193 yards and five touchdowns.

3. HAYNES KING – GEORGIA TECH

King, a Texas A&M transfer, has thrown for 1,835 yards and 17 touchdowns this season for the Yellow Jackets. He has also rushed for 372 yards and three scores.

2. SHEDEUR SANDERS – COLORADO

Sanders, despite Colorado’s recent struggles, has been a star in the PAC 12 this year. He leads all transfers with 2,420 yards and 21 passing touchdowns, and has also rushed for three touchdowns.

1. THOMAS CASTELLANOS – BOSTON COLLEGE

Castellanos is our new transfer portal leader. The BC signal caller has thrown for 1,420 yards and ten touchdowns. In addition, the dual-threat QB has been a threat on the ground, rushing for 628 yards and nine touchdowns so far this year.
