Week 8 Heisman Trophy Update

After a tough weekend for Washington and quarterback Michael Penix, Jr., gutting out a 15-7 win against a shaky Arizona State side, undefeated Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy now leads in the Heisman Trophy race.

Here’s how the Heisman Trophy odds currently breakdown following Week 8 action:

 

1.) J.J. McCarthy – QB, Michigan (+250)

In a 49-0 shutout of rivals Michigan State, McCarthy threw for 287 yards, four touchdowns, and completed 78% of his passing attempts.

 

T-2.) Michael Penix, Jr. – QB, Washington (+300)

Beating out Arizona State, the Indiana transfer managed 275 passing yards and threw two interceptions as the Huskies defense dug out a win.

 

T-2.) Jayden Daniels – QB, LSU (+300)

Dominating Army in a 62-0 win, the former Arizona State quarterback completed 11 passes for 279 yards and three touchdowns on the day.

 

T-4.) Bo Nix – QB, Oregon (+1200)

Bouncing back from the loss at Washington, the Auburn transfer led Oregon to a 38-24 defeat of Washington State while throwing two touchdowns and 293 yards on 25 attempts.

 

T-4.) Dillon Gabriel – QB, Oklahoma (+1200)

The former UCF recruit led a 31-29 comeback win over his former program, throwing for 253 yards, three touchdowns, two interceptions, and completing 66% of his passes.

 

7.) Marvin Harrison, Jr. – WR, Ohio State (+2500)

To help take down No. 10 Penn State 20-12, Harrison contributed a season-high of 11 catches which went for 162 yards and what would eventually be the game winning touchdown.

 

8.) Carson Beck – QB, Georgia (+3000)

Cruising to a 7-0 record following a 37-20 win over Vanderbilt, the Bulldogs and Beck had a bye in Week 8.

 

9.) Drake Maye – QB, North Carolina (+5000)

With the Tar Heels falling to Virginia 31-27 at the weekend, the 2022 ACC Player of the Year threw for 347 yards, two touchdowns, an interception, all while completing just 50% of his passes.

 

T-10.) Jalen Milroe – QB, Alabama (+10000)

As the Crimson Tide picked up a 34-20 win over No. 21 Tennessee, Milroe threw for 220 yards, two TD’s, and one interception.

 

T-10.) Caleb Williams – QB, USC (+10000)

The Oklahoma transfer had something of a tough day with just 256 passing yards and one rushing TD, which marked consecutive losses for the Trojans in a 34-32 battle against No. 13 Utah.

 

T-10.) Sam Hartman – QB, Notre Dame (+10000)

After giving USC their first loss of the season in a 48-20 defeat, the Wake Forest transfer and his Irish contingent were on bye for Week 8.

 

T-10.) Kyle McCord – QB, Ohio State (+10000)

Staking his claim against the Nittany Lions, McCord threw for 286 yards on 35 attempts and linked with Harrison, Jr. for that previously mentioned fourth quarter game winning touchdown.
