This week BYU travels to Austin to take on No. 7 Texas in a Big 12 Conference matchup. This is one of the crucial week eight games that could help determine the Big 12 Championship game.

Texas, who lost starting QB Quinn Ewers to a sprained AC joint last week against Houston, will start redshirt freshman Maalik Murphy. The Longhorns defeated Houston 31-24 after the Cougars couldn’t convert on fourth down in Texas territory.

BYU comes into this game 5-2 (2-2 Big 12) during their inaugural year in the conference with wins over Cincinnati and Texas Tech. The Cougars were competitive with Kansas but got tossed around by TCU. If BYU can pull off the upset, they’ll still have a shot to reach Arlington.

Texas is favored by 20 points as of Friday.

Transfers to Watch:

AD Mitchell (Texas – WR), Jalen Catalon (Texas – DB), Ryan Watts (Texas – DB), Kedon Slovis (BYU – QB), Eddie Heckard (BYU – CB), AJ Vongphachanh (BYU – LB)
