Frain: His Addition Turns this Program into Conference Contenders

2022-23 All-AEC Second Team selection Charles Pride had an incredible junior and senior season at Bryant. In 2021-22, teamed up alongside the nation’s leading scorer in Peter Kiss, Pride broke out and averaged 17.7 PPG, 8.6 RPG, and 2.4 APG, helping the Bulldogs to their first Division I NCAA Tournament appearance.

Tasked with leading the offense this past season, Pride continued his high level production averaging 14.6 PPG and shooting 45% during the program’s first campaign in the America East Conference.

At the culmination of his four-year career under Head Coach Jared Grasso, Pride has amassed 1,500+ points scored, 750 rebounds, and a career shooting percentage of 46%.

Now, the Syracuse, NY native returns closer to home and joins Mark Schmidt’s St. Bonaventure program for what’s shaping up to be a vastly improved season in Allegany.

In Pride, the Bonnies picked up another highly talented two-way guard to improve on their already adept backcourt rotation of Daryl Banks III, Kyrell Luc, Moses Flowers, and Cincinnati transfer Mika Adams-Woods.

The graduate transfer can score from almost anywhere on the court and has shown this throughout the preseason, giving Bonnies fans a look with 7 points and 8 rebounds in a recent scrimmage against D3 Alfred.

Adding Pride to this backcourt gives Schmidt’s rotation a huge offensive boost and with a talented core already returning, I believe his addition absolutely turns the Bonnies into Atlantic 10 conference contenders.
