Dime-Droppers: Top 10 Transfer Assist Leaders

After our graphic from yesterday tracking the early season’s transfer assist leaders, here’s an updated breakdown of the top-10 assisters following last night’s games. 

 

1.) Jared Bynum – Stanford

The former Providence guard leads all transfers in assists averaging a career-best 8 APG and recently contributing six points and ten assists in a 91-73 Cardinal win over Sacramento State.

 

2.) Darius Brown II – Utah State

The 2022-23 Big Sky Defensive Player of the Year at Montana State has picked up his offensive game since arriving in Logan, UT, averaging a career high 15 PPG, 7.7 APG, and 2 STLPG.

 

3.) Jayden Epps – Georgetown

Following a reportedly great preseason from Epps, the former top-100 prospect and Illinois guard is leading Georgetown with 7 APG and managed 11 assists in the Hoyas season opening win over newly minted DI program Le Moyne.

4.) Symir Torrence – Binghamton

The Syracuse transfer and Syracuse, NY native is averaging a career-high 10.7 PPG, 5.7 RPG, and 6.7 APG while notching nine assists in the Bearcats first win of the season over DIII Keystone.

 

5.) Dominic Brewton – CSU Fullerton

The 2022-23 All-SWAC First Team selection with Alcorn State is also off to a career-best start averaging 13.5 PPG, 6 APG, and 3 STLPG, adding 13 points, six assists, and three steals in an opening night loss to San Diego State.

 

6.) Jared Barnett – CSU Northridge

The San Diego State grad transfer is averaging just 2.7 PPG, but is leading the Matadors with 6 APG and contributed two points, seven rebounds, six assists, and two steals in a 76-73 win against Idaho last week.

 

7.) Sahvir Wheeler – Washington

A two-time transfer who played at both Georgia and Kentucky, Wheeler has really found his footing in Seattle averaging a career-high of 16 PPG and 6 APG while shooting 52% from the field.

 

8.) Ta’lon Cooper – South Carolina

The Minnesota transfer has been critical to the Gamecocks undefeated start, averaging 11.3 PPG, 3.3 RPG, and 5.7 APG and later adding 12 points and seven assists in last week’s 79-77 victory over Virginia Tech.

 

9.) Javon Bennett – Dayton

2022-23 NEC Rookie of the Year at Merrimack, Javon Bennett has already established himself as the Flyers primarily ball handler behind a 12-point, 5-assist performance in a tight loss to Northwestern.

 

10.) RayJ Dennis – Baylor

The 2022-23 MAC Player of the Year and a former Toledo guard, Dennis opened the season with 15 points, four rebounds, and two assists in a win over Auburn and most recently brought 11 points and eight assists to a 99-61 defeat of Kansas City.
