Joey Hobert is a Slept on Star for Texas State

The Texas State Wildcats are led by a three-headed monster of transfers. QB TJ Finley and RB Ismail Mahdi have stolen the show with both falling inside the top 15 in total FPTS according to TPR’s fantasy point system. The third head of the monster, WR Joey Hobert, has been Finley’s most reliable target and is a huge reason for the Bobcats bowl eligibility.

Hobert started his career with Washington State as a three-star prospect out of San Clemente, California. After two seasons with the Cougars, Hobert tallied just 18 receptions, 233 yards, and one touchdown.

Everything changed when Hobert made the decision to transfer to Utah Tech following the 2021 season. In his only year with the Trailblazers, Joey Hobert absolutely uncorked. He hauled in 1,249 yards and 16 touchdowns, earning him All-American honors from five different organizations.

Now in his first season with Texas State, the 5-11 receiver is having another outstanding season. Joey has piled up 847 yards and eight touchdowns this season with five games finishing over 100 yards, including 105 and a touchdown at Baylor in what remains one of the biggest upsets of the season.

The Bobcats finish out the season with South Alabama and Joey Hobert is 153 yards away from back-to-back 1,000 yard receiving seasons. Hobert will look to continue to be explosive for Texas State Saturday with a bowl game looming in the near future for the Cats.
