Pitt’s Ishmael Leggett Rising up National Transfer Guard Rankings

Published

on

Pitt basketball guard Ishmael Leggett has led the Panthers to a 5-1 start in his first year as a top transfer portal player.

Pitt basketball found a gem in the transfer portal this offseason.

The Panthers’ staff had a tall task of replacing four senior guards that led the program to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in Jeff Capel’s tenure. To do that, the staff brought in two talented freshmen, Carlton “Bub” Carrington and Jaland Lowe, as well as an experienced, tough veteran Ishmael Leggett.

Leggett has been a star for the Panthers in his first six games with the program, averaging 15.7 points, eight rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.7 blocks per game in just 29.7 minutes per game. Leggett has hit 43% of his field goals and 36% of his three-point field goals thus far.

Leggett’s early-season performance has been as good as just about any other guard that transferred this past offseason. In fact, Leggett ranks as the No. 6 overall transfer guard in TPR’s DUNK database. Leggett is the top-ranked transfer guard in the ACC. He is the No. 18 overall transfer in the nation, per DUNK.

Leggett is averaging 33.9 TPR Fantasy Points per game, and has a game score of 13.9 so far. Austin Peay guard Demarcus Sharp leads all guards with 44.5 FPTs/Game.

DUNK is a private (soon-to-be-public) database that The Portal Report team built and uses for its transfer analysis. To find out more about what goes into TPR’s Fantasy Point system, check out the link below.
