Portal Entrants
All-CAA First Team and Defensive Team selection Cam Holden entered the portal after one season at Towson. The former UT-Martin Skyhawk averaged 13.5 points and 7.9 rebounds, guiding the Tigers to a Colonial Athletic Association regular season title. The Forysth, GA native will have one season of eligibility remaining.
After starting all 56 games during his two seasons at Weber State, sophomore Seikou Jawara will search for a new home. The Mataro, Spain native tallied 12.2 points and 2.4 rebounds per contest, earning a selection to the All-Big Sky Third Team. The former Loyola Marymount transfer finishes his Wildcat career ranked seventh in school history in career 3-point field goal percentage at 41.8 percent.
Commitments
Wright State transfer Grant Basile led the Raiders to their first NCAA Tournament win at the Division I level before committing to Virginia Tech on Wednesday. The Pewaukee, WI native averaged 18.4 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game. Basile earned Second Team All-Horizon League honors, while being named the Horizon League Tournament MVP. The 6-foot-9 forward chose the Hokies over Notre Dame, Iowa State, and Wisconsin.
Thad Matta earned his third portal pledge as the head coach of Butler when NC State transfer Manny Bates committed to the Bulldogs. The Fayetteville, NC native appeared in just one game this past season due to injury, but averaged 9.8 points and 5.9 rebounds during the 2020-2021 season. Bates picked Butler over Georgetown and Iowa State.
Isaac Likekele is headed from one OSU to another, as the Oklahoma State transfer will be a Buckeye after four seasons in Stillwater. The Arlington, TX native averaged 7.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.4 assists, starting all 30 games for the Cowboys. Likekele sits third all-time in career assists at Oklahoma State with 441.
Shaheen Holloway and Seton Hall added their second Pirate from the portal, beating out Georgia for Al-Amir Dawes. The Clemson transfer spent three seasons in The Palmetto State, averaging 11.3 points and 2.8 rebounds during the 2021-2022 season. The former four-star recruit led the Tigers with 84 3PM, shooting 39.8 percent from beyond the arc.
Tyree Appleby will join fellow transfers Andrew Carr (Delaware) and Jao Ituka (Marist) at Wake Forest after spending two seasons at Florida. Appleby, who began his career at Cleveland State, averaged 10.9 points, 2.1 rebounds a game, and 3.7 assists per game. The Jacksonville, AR native led the Gators with 125 assists.
Following a two-year stint at Belmont, sophomore JaCobi Wood will move to the Missouri Valley Conference and transfer to Murray State. The future Racer tallied 8.7 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists during his time at Belmont. The Cleveland, TN native also took an official visit to Wofford before committing to Steve Prohm.
Murray State double-dipped into the portal on Wednesday, earning the commitment of Stetson transfer Rob Perry. The Orlando, FL native tallied 15.9 points and 5.7 rebounds in just 14 games this past season. Perry will have two years of eligibility remaining.
The once presumed Michigan State bound Micah Parrish is headed to the west coast to play for San Diego State. After two years at Oakland (Michigan), the 6-foot-6 sophomore entered the portal earlier this spring. Parrish recorded 12.1 points on 55% shooting, while tallying 6 rebounds and 1.7 steals. A member of the All-Horizon League Defensive team, Parrish chose the Aztecs over Michigan State and West Virginia.
UMBC transfer L.J. Owens will return to the CAA, as the former William & Mary guard announced his decision to attend Delaware. Owens competed for the Retrievers for three seasons, recording 11.3 points and 2.7 rebounds while shooting 42.9 percent from beyond the arc in 2021-2022. The Annapolis, MD native started in 83 of his 85 games at UMBC.
Oregon State transfer Tre Williams will head to the mid-major and play for Tulane. Williams, who began his career at Minnesota, averaged 3.0 PPG as a junior this past season.
