On Wednesday, Wright State transfer Grant Basile announced his commitment to Mike Young and Virginia Tech. The redshirt junior chose the Hokies over Wisconsin, Iowa State, and Notre Dame after visiting his four finalists.
The Pewaukee, WI native averaged 18.4 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game, leading Wright State to their first NCAA Tournament victory at the Division I level. Basile earned Second Team All-Horizon League honors, while being named the Horizon League Tournament MVP.

After redshirting in the 2018-2019 season, Basile was named to the Horizon League All-Freshman Team in 2020, tallying 6.2 PPG and 4.3 RPG. The future Hokie followed up his inaugural year on the court as a Second Team All-Horizon League selection, pouring in 15.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per contest en route to the 2021 Horizon League regular season title.
Basile will join the Hokies in hopes of repeating as ACC Champions, providing depth in the frontcourt after a successful career at the mid-major level. The 6-foot-9 forward will have two years of eligibility in Blacksburg.
