Another day this week with no new additions to the portal due to the May 1st deadline to enter but multiple major commitments between a Conference Player of the Year to a former top-100 recruit. The Portal Report has all the latest news and highlights from Thursday’s college basketball transfer portal.

Commitments

After a season with Xavier and now three with UTEP, 6-foot-5 guard Keonte Kennedy has announced that he will join UNC Greensboro with two additional years of eligibility remaining. Last season, Kennedy averaged 14.1 PPG and 6.1 RPG with the Miners while shooting 41% from the field and 31% from deep, leading his team in both rebounding and steals.

Former SEC All-Freshman selection Jermaine Couisnard who averaged 12 PPG, 2.5 RPG, and 3.2 APG on 26 appearances for South Carolina last season has committed to Oregon. While never a starter, Cousinard’s is as consistent as they come averaging over 10 PPG the last three years and has been known to catch fire including back-to-back 33 and 22-point performances over LSU and Mississippi State respectively back in February.

LSU has continued its reign over the transfer portal and specifically Murray State, receiving a commitment from 2021-22 OVC Player of the Year KJ Williams who now joins a trio of former Racers heading to Baton Rouge this offseason. Bringing Murray State to a top-25 ranking, Williams averaged 18 PPG and 8.4 RPG last season without missing a single game and was considered one of the top prospects to enter the portal.

Following a year with Michigan, former top-100 prospect Frankie Collins is heading to Arizona State and is the fourth commitment this offseason for a rebuilding Bobby Hurley. While Collins only averaged 2.8 PPG and 1.7 RPG for the Wolverines last season, he has shown his talent in spurts such as 8 points and 3 assists against San Diego State or managing 14 points and 6 rebounds in a first-round NCAA Tournament win over Colorado State.
