Predictions for the Top Available Transfers

The transfer portal has been an extremely busy place this offseason. Although the deadline to enter the portal has passed, players are still on the market to commit to schools. Here is where I think some of the top available transfers will land:

Malachi Smith

Smith’s former head coach Lamont Paris took the job at South Carolina. Playing in a familiar system and starting on an SEC team makes the most sense.

Former school: Chattanooga. Prediction: South Carolina.

Kenneth Lofton Jr.

Loves playing down low and getting physical in the paint, Lofton is best fit in a gritty system like Kelvin Sampson’s.

Former school: Louisiana Tech. Prediction: Houston.

Antoine Davis

The veteran from Detroit Mercy would certainly get the green light to shoot in Manhattan. He would provide experience for a young team led by newly minted head coach Jerome Tang.

Former school: Detroit Mercy. Prediction: Kansas State.

Tyrese Hunter

Playing for a coach that has been around the game for a while, like Kenny Payne, would significantly help prepare Tyrese Hunter for the NBA.

Former school: Iowa State. Prediction: Louisville.

AJ Green

The fit at Iowa State just feels natural for Northern Iowa transfer AJ Green. He grew up less than 100 miles outside of Ames and playing in the Big 12 would be a great jump in competition.

18.8 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.5 assists. Former school: Northern Iowa. Prediction: Iowa State.

Emoni Bates

Bates has been linked to Louisville several times, specifically through NIL. The Cardinals also are in desperate need of a player like Bates.

9.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists. Former school: Memphis. Prediction: Louisville.

Isiaih Mosley

Mosley has several connections to the Kansas roster. He played high school basketball with Dajuan Harris Jr. and was also an AAU teammate of Christian Braun.

20.4 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.3 assists. Former school: Missouri State. Prediction: Kansas.

Patrick Baldwin Jr.

Although the former five-star recruit struggled as a freshman, he is still being mocked as a late first rounder. There’s no reason to pass up being a first round NBA player.

12.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists. Former school: Milwaukee. Prediction: NBA.

Kevin McCullar

McCullar recently announced a top schools list of just Gonzaga and Kansas. Staying in the Big 12 and playing for Bill Self is a phenomenal fit.

10.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists. Former school: Texas Tech. Prediction: Kansas.

Khalil Shabazz

Will most likely follow his former head coach Todd Golden to Gainesville.

13.7 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists. Former school: San Francisco. Prediction: Florida.
