On Tuesday, Illinois guard Jacob Grandison announced his intention to enter the transfer portal. Grandison spent two seasons at Holy Cross before joining the Illini prior to the 2019 season, missing the campaign due to NCAA transfer rules.

The 6-foot-6 senior started 23 games for the 2022 Big Ten regular season champions, averaging 9.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game. Grandison was efficient on the offensive end for the Illini, connecting on 45.5 percent from the field and shooting 41.0 percent from three-point range.

The Oakland, CA native started 39 of his 60 career games under Brad Underwood, helping lead the Illini to a Big Ten Tournament championship in 2021.

Grandison’s entrance into the portal comes on the heels of his withdrawal from the NBA Draft on Sunday. With one year of eligibility remaining, Grandison will provide experience and an efficient offensive game at his next stop.
