RANKINGS: Top Transfer Commitments of the Week

As a new week begins, let’s take a look at last week’s top transfer commitments in the basketball world.

TOP 10

1. Malachi Smith – Gonzaga

Smith was undoubtedly one of the top names in the portal, and now heads out west to join Mark Few’s loaded Bulldogs roster. The SoCon Player of the Year started all 60 games in his Chattanooga tenure, scoring 19.9 points and grabbing 6.7 rebounds per game, 41% three-point shooter.

2. Mylik Wilson – Houston

Wilson earned 2019-20 Sun Belt Rookie of the Year honors after averaging 12.9 PPG, 5.5 RPG, and 3.2 APG as a sophomore. Then moved on to play for Texas Tech, where he put up 2.5 points per game. He should prove as a valuable addition for Kelvin Sampson’s Cougars.

3. Anthony Harris – Rhode Island

Harris is a former top-100 prospect who joins a well-rounded recruiting class brought in by first-year head coach Archie Miller. The 6-foot-4 guard averaged 3.5 PPG, .7 RPG, and .9 APG for North Carolina (3 seasons).

4. David N’Guessan – Kansas State

N’Guessan is a 6-foot-9 forward who brings two years of high-major experience to Jerome Tang’s Wildcats. Averaged 3.7 points per game for the Hokies this season.

5. Felipe Haase – Southern Miss

Haase began his career at South Carolina, but recently played for Mercer, and now takes his talents to Southern Miss. A Second Team All-SoCon selection, he averaged 14.8 points and 5.6 rebounds per game this season. He shot 40.6 percent from three-point range and is a nice addition on the perimeter for head coach Jay Ladner.

6. Jamel Horton – Mississippi State

Horton is a 6-foot-4 guard out of Albany who averaged 12.8 points and 3.9 assists per game as a sophomore. He won America East Defensive Player of the Year this past season and was a Second Team All-Conference selection.

7. Kaodirichi Akobundu-Ehiogu – Memphis

Penny Hardaway locked down the commitment of Akobundu-Ehiogu early this week. The 6-foot-9 Nigeria native spent two seasons at UT-Arlington, scoring 4.7 points and 4.8 rebounds as a sophomore. Also averaged 2.6 blocks per game.

8. Noah Waterman – Saint Bonaventure

Waterman is a 6-foot-11 forward who has averaged 9 PPG and 4 RPG throughout his collegiate career. As a sophomore, he shot 53% from three-point range for Detroit.

9. Carvell Teasett – Appalachian State

Teasett is a 6-foot-1 guard out of Northwestern State who put up almost 13 points per game this season. Career 38% three-point shooter is a nice pickup for the Mountaineers.

10. Sy Chatman – Buffalo

An Illinois State transfer, Chatman is a 6-foot-8 forward who averaged 13.5 points and 6.1 rebounds on 54.9 percent shooting for the Redbirds. Has spent two years at both UMass and Illinois State.

HONORABLE MENTION

Marvin Coleman – Evansville

Coleman is a 6-foot-3 guard from Las Vegas who averaged 6.9 points and 4.8 rebounds in a career-best 2019-20 season. Coleman is a career 40.9% shooter.

Raheim Sullivan – NJIT

Sullivan is a 6-foot-1 guard who spent two years at Marist after two years in the JuCo ranks. He aveeraged 8.7 PPG, 2.3 RPG, and 2.1 APG for Marist in his two seasons there.

Kenny Strawbridge – Evansville

Strawbridge, an Alabama State transfer, averaged 10.5 points per game in each of the last two seasons. The 6-foot-4 guard averaged a strong 7.2 rebounds per game in his first season with Alabama State.
