Which transfer will make a bigger impact this year: Matthew Mayer (Illinois), or Baylor Scheierman (Creighton)?

Mayer transfers into the Illini program after playing over 125 games in four seasons for Baylor. The 6-foot-9 standout won a National Championship with the Bears in the 2020-21 season. This past season, he started all 33 games, averaging 9.8 points and five rebounds per game, shooting 42% from the field.

Scheirman, last year’s Summit League Player of the Year, joins a loaded Creighton roster with three years of experience in his college career. Playing at South Dakota State, he started all 35 games this season, averaging 16.2 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. Scheierman shot the lights out from deep range, hitting 83 of his 177 three-point attempts (47%).
