The transfer portal is as big a part of college football as anything these days. Here are some standouts from week one.
QB Caleb Williams, USC
The Oklahoma transfer completed 19 of 22 passes for 249 yards and two touchdowns while also rushing for 68 yards in his debut in a blowout win over Rice. Both of his touchdown passes went to Jordan Addison (Pittsburgh), while Austin Jones (Stanford) rushed for two touchdowns but most eyes were on Williams.
RB Henry Parrish, Miami
Parrish came over from Ole Miss and rushed for 108 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries, while also adding three receptions for 25 yards in his debut.
WR Charlie Jones, Purdue
Despite the loss to Penn State, Jones was arguably the most impressive transfer of Thursday night. The Iowa transfer finished his first game at Purdue with 12 receptions for 153 yards and one touchdown. He also returned punts and kickoffs.
WR Mitchell Tinsley, Penn State
When the Nittany Lions grabbed Tinsley out of Western Kentucky from the portal it was a huge deal. He finished with seven receptions for 84 yards and one touchdown Thursday night in a win over Purdue.
QB Kedon Slovis, Pitt
The USC transfer was efficient in his Panthers’ debut completing 16 of 24 passes for 308 yards and one touchdown during a big victory over West Virginia.
RB Zach Evans, Ole Miss
The TCU transfer rushed for 130 yards and added 22 yards receiving in a win over Troy.
WR Jacob Cowing, Arizona
Cowing, a UTEP transfer, had eight receptions for 152 yards with three of those scores in a win over San Diego State.
QB Dillon Gabriel, Oklahoma
In his first game in charge of the Sooners’ offense, Gabriel completed 15 of 23 passes for 233 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for another touchdown during the 45-13 victory over UTEP as the UCF transfer dominated.
WR Jermaine Burton, Alabama
The Georgia transfer quickly showed off his connection with quarterback Bryce Young with two touchdown receptions during his first game with the Tide in a rout over Utah State.
