Kraemer’s Weekly Portal Report — Power Ranking CFB’s Headlines | Week 3-4

My bad, I missed a week. So this is a double feature. Here’s what you need to know in transfer news over the past two weeks.

1) Start the clock

Michigan State finally pulled the trigger. After additional investigation and corroboration, they decided to part ways with Mel Tucker. That means Michigan State players have 30 days to enter the transfer portal before the December portal period. This may be a non-issue. Michigan State leadership may be able to hold the team together. This may also lead to a mass exodus. I’ll just be sitting here, eating my popcorn, like the Michael Jackson in Thriller GIF.

2) The week of the WR

We had some absolute monster performances by pass catchers this week. Naiem Simmons [Wagner ➡️ USF] went for an unbelievable 272 yards on 8 catches with a TD. Washington State teammates Josh Kelly [Fresno State ➡️ WSU] and Kyle Williams [UNLV ➡️ WSU] both had themselves a day. Kelly caught 8 balls for 159 yards and 3 TDs. Williams caught 7 for 174 yards and 1 TD. Malik Washington [NW ➡️ UVA] exploded for 10 catches, 170 yards, and 2 TDs.

3) Some Sun Belt love

We’ve featured Texas State QB, TJ Finley [Auburn ➡️ TexSt], several times this season with his impressive performances leading Texas State to a 3-1 record. This week we want to give some love to two of his playmaking teammates. RB Ismail Mahdi [HCU ➡️ TexSt] ran for 217 yards and 2 TDs. WR Joey Hobert caught 9 passes for 90 yards and 1 TD. Meanwhile in the SBC East, James Madison topped Utah State to get another W, advancing to 4-0 on the season. This team is fun to watch and we are rooting for them, behind their star transfer QB, Jordan McCloud [Zona ➡️ JMU], who had 6 total TDs (4 passing, 2 rushing) and 364 yards through the air this week.

As always, there’s plenty of action to keep our eyes on this week in transfer portal news. We will certainly be watching for any early entrants into the portal from MSU, but are looking forward to a great weekend of college football. Especially our “game to watch” between two former Pac-12 QBs, as Jayden Daniels [ASU ➡️ LSU] and LSU take on Jaxson Dart [USC ➡️ Ole Miss] and the Ole Miss Rebels.

Let us know what matchup you’re looking forward to this week! Thanks for reading, we’ll see you next week!
