Five Transfers I Can’t Wait to Watch on Opening Night

Published

on

Providence basketball forward Josh Oduro is one of the best transfers in college basketball.

I’ll be at the Pitt-NC A&T game on Monday night to kick off the 2023-24 basketball season.

However, aside from the Pitt game, I can’t wait to watch the action from all around college basketball on Monday. Here are the top transfers that I am looking forward to watching to kick off the season.

CORMAC RYAN, UNC

Ryan and the Tar Heels take on a tough mid-major squad in Radford on Monday night. I’m curious to see how the former Notre Dame player looks in the UNC offense.

DALTON KNECHT, TENNESSEE

Knecht and the Volunteers open the season at 6:30 p.m. against Tennessee Tech. The 6-foot-6 guard went off in Tennessee’s recent exhibitions, but how will he do in the regular season? If he can become a major contributor in the SEC, Tennessee will have a very high ceiling..

ANDREI SAVRASOV, DUQUESNE

Duquesne is a team full of new faces (aside from the starting back court) and I can’t wait to see how all of them look for the Dukes. Savrasov is one of the more intriguing transfers to me. How will he look this year for Keith Dambrot and co.?

JOSH ODURO, PROVIDENCE

Oduro was our No. 2 overall transfer this offseason and he still managed to fly under the radar in the national media scene. I cannot wait to see how the veteran forward looks in a Friar uniform tonight against Columbia at 6 p.m.

GRANT NELSON, ALABAMA

When Nelson hit the portal, it seems as though everyone in the college basketball world wanted him on their team. Alabama landed him. How will he fare under Nate Oats? Excited to watch the unicorn at work!
