On the defensive side of the ball, Washington added some studs to a defense that made timely plays time and again on the way to an undefeated regular season, and a berth in the National Championship.

  • B.J. Green II, Arizona State DL

Green II, an Atlanta native, is incredibly quick off the ball from his defensive end position. With star edge rusher Bralen Trice likely headed to the NFL following the season, Green II will have an immediate impact for Washington. B.J. gets to the quarterback in a hurry and hits with a ferocity that will be necessary in a physical BIG10.

  • Sebastian Valdez, Montana State DT

During two seasons with Montana State, Valdez was both a reliable run stopper and a force rushing the passer. The 6-3 291 lb. tackle recorded over 40 tackles and 5 sacks in each year with the Bobcats. On top of that, Valdez forced three fumbles in 2022.

  • Ethan Barr, Vanderbilt LB

A stud for four seasons with the Commodores, Barr heads to Washington looking to be a key piece for a great team. Barr had his best season in 2021, racking up 85 tackles, four pass defenses, and three interceptions. Expect the senior linebacker to be all over the field in Seattle next year.
