Texas A&M Transfer Portal Class Breakdown

With the 2023 college football season coming to a close and the transfer portal season well underway, Texas A&M’s first-year head coach Mike Elko hit the portal hard and has already brought in almost 20 transfer additions. With his class primarily highlighted by top-tier defensive talent, some may remember Elko’s four seasons as a defensive coordinator under Jimbo Fisher at Texas A&M.

Now making his return to College State, let’s take a look at some of those transfer pieces Elko and the Aggies have added onto the roster early into the offseason.

De’Rickey Wright, DB/S – Vanderbilt

Career FPTS: 282. 90

After four seasons at Vandy, converting to a defensive back as a sophomore, Wright spent the 2022 and 2023 campaigns as a starter where he amassed 131 career tackles, seven for a loss, five interceptions, and three forced fumbles.

Trey Jones, DB – Central Michigan

Career FPTS: 303.90

Having spent five seasons at Central Michigan, Jones was a critical part of the Chippewas defense over the past three seasons where he’s managed 187 career tackles, three interceptions, six defended passes, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.
