Top 20 Transfer Guards Update: Conference Play

With Conference play now well underway and March Tournament’s just around the corner, here’s an updated look at the top 20 transfer guards based on The Portal Report’s 2023 College Basketball Fantasy Scoring metrics.

1.) DeMarcus Sharp – Austin Peay

Total FPTS: 916.8

Following head coach Corey Gipson over from Northwestern State, Sharp’s impressive scoring prowess has only continued, averaging 17.3 PPG, 6.9 RPG, and 4.7 APG, while shooting 44% from the field as the Governors do-it-all guard. 

2.) Shahada Wells – McNeese State

Total FPTS: 889.5

Under newly appointed Cowboys head coach Will Wade, McNeese State is managing a program-best 22-3 record to lead the Southland Conference and the former UT-Arlington and TCU transfer has been the reason why.

3.) Sebastian Thomas – UAlbany

Total FPTS: 826.0

The other half of that Great Danes transfer backcourt duo, the Rhode Island transfer is averaging a team-leading 17.9 PPG and 5.0 APG while recently securing a win over New Hampshire with 25 points, seven assists, and six steals.

4.) Noah Reynolds – Green Bay

Total FPTS: 809.9

Following first-year head coach Sundance Wicks from Wyoming to Green Bay, Reynolds has led the Phoenix to a 17-9 record and a spot atop the Horizon League standings with the Peoria, IL native averaging 19.8 PPG.

5.) Xander Rice – Monmouth

Total FPTS: 799.0

Returning to his hometown of West Long Branch, NJ to play for his father in Monmouth head coach King Rice, Xander is averaging a career-high and team-leading 21.2 PPG with the Hawks improving to 13-12 in year-two of CAA contention.
