The College Football Playoff (CFP) Selection Committee released the third edition of this year’s rankings Tuesday night. Headlined by a non-high major team in the top four, this group of teams boast incredible transfer star power.

I believe the transfers below have had the biggest impact on their respective teams thus far this season. (Note: The initial ranking listed notes the team’s rank in the current 12-team CFP bracket.)

  • No.12 (No.14) BYU- Jack Kelly, LB

  • HMs- Marque Collins, Austin Leausa

Weber State transfer Jack Kelly has been all over the field for the BYU defense this season. The Cougars cling to the final spot in the third week of the CFP rankings after taking their first loss of the season at home Saturday night.

Kelly has 38 total tackles on the year, four sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. As the Cougars prepare for their final playoff push, look for Kelly to play a crucial role alongside a pair of talented, sophomore linebackers in Harrison Taggart and Isaiah Glasker.

  • No.11 (No.10) Georgia- Trevor Etienne, RB

  • HMs- London Humphreys, Ben Yurosek

Former Florida running back Trevor Etienne ruffled some feathers with his decision to leave Gainesville to go play for the archrival Georgia Bulldogs following the conclusion of last season.

Now, the younger brother of NFL star Travis appears to be on a similar path with the Dawgs. Etienne has racked up 477 yards and 7 touchdowns on the ground while splitting touches with his backfield mate, Nate Frazier.

Etienne carried the rock 19 times for 87 yards and three touchdowns in the road win at Texas, a season changing victory for Georgia and their CFP hopes.

  • No.10 (No.9) Ole Miss- Chris Paul Jr., LB

  • HMs- Henry Parrish Jr., Walter Nolen

Chris Paul Jr has a knack for tackling. The 6’1” 235 lb. junior racked up 62 and 74 tackles in his first two years starting at Arkansas respectively.

After transferring to Ole Miss, Paul Jr picked up right where he left off with the Hogs. He sits two off his career high at 72 tackles with two games to play.

Additionally, Paul Jr has proven his ability to show up in critical games for the Rebels. The linebacker added 11 tackles to his total in a home win over Oklahoma, before picking up nine in a victory over then No.3 Georgia.
