The college football transfer portal window opened on Monday, Dec.9. In recent years, impact transfers influenced the performance of the nation’s top teams. Â
This season, Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel leads the way for the No.1 team in the College Football Playoff after transferring from Oklahoma. Quinshon Judkins, an Ole Miss transfer, has shredded defenses on the ground for Ohio State. Andrew Mukuba, a former Clemson Tiger, has provided security in the secondary for Texas.Â
TPR dives into top players to enter the portal thus far.Â
Devon Dampier QB, New Mexico to UtahÂ
The top player in TPR’s transfer rankings will be taking his talents to Salt Lake City. Dampier, a sophomore, totaled 31 touchdowns this season in his first year as a starter. The dual threat signal caller rushed for three scores in four games this season, including a 38-35 win over then No.18 Washington State. With quarterbacks Isaac Wilson and Cam Rising departing, Dampier appears primed for the QB1 spot for the Utes. Former Lobos offensive coordinator Jason Beck will join Dampier at Utah. Look for Dampier to pick up where he left off in 2025.Â
Eric Rivers WR, FIU to TBDÂ
As a three-star recruit out of high school, Rivers received offers from low major schools like Arkansas State, Tennessee State and Richmond before committing to Memphis as a walk-on. After two seasons with the Tigers, Rivers transferred to FIU. This season, Rivers tallied 62 catches, 1,172 yards and 12 touchdowns. In a 34-13 victory over New Mexico State, Rivers uncorked for 11 catches, 295 yards and three touchdowns. His 295 yards set a single-game record for the Panthers. Rivers will be highly touted. Expect Rivers to make an impact for a national title contender next season.Â
