Earlier this week, former Georgia Bulldog PJ Horne entered the transfer portal after spending three seasons with Virginia Tech and two with Georgia (sat this past season due to injury).
The 6-foot-6, 230-pound forward worked his way up with the Hokies, averaging 7.6 points and 4.2 rebounds per contest in his junior season in Blacksburg. Once he transferred to Georgia, Horne started all 26 games for the Bulldogs in the 2020-21 season. That year, he sharpened his outside game, setting career highs in three-point percentage (37%) and threes per game (1.8).
Just ahead of his COVID year last season, Horne suffered a season-ending knee injury and underwent surgery shortly after on that right knee.
It’s with genuine sadness that let you know that @prestonhorne24 will miss this @UGABasketball season after undergoing surgery on his right knee this past weekend. In practice , he bumped knees in a scrimmage, lost footing and went down awkwardly. pic.twitter.com/muKQogmePi

PJ Horne locked in and getting started with @UGABasketball today. No doubt the program gets better with the arrival of a well coached and incredibly well raised young man. A true winner and model of improvement. pic.twitter.com/UFFZ447aLT

Back in his lone season with the Bulldogs, Horne hit a layup with just seconds remaining to knock off Kentucky, ending Georgia’s 14-game losing streak to the ‘Cats and improving the Bulldogs’ record to 9-4 at the time.
