Despite Loss, No. 19 Washington State Finding Success Through Portal Class

No. 19 Washington State currently sits at 4-1 on the season after this past week’s loss to UCLA.

With ranked victories over Wisconsin and Oregon State under their belt, the Cougars are already having one of their best years in recent memory. Let’s look at some of the key transfers that have played a role in that hot start up in Pullman.

JOSH KELLY – WR

Kelly, a Fresno State transfer, has been a weapon in the passing game so far for the Cougars, catching 25 passes for 364 yards in the team’s first six weeks. He has also caught a career-best five touchdowns this year.

 

DEVIN RICHARDSON – LB

Richardson, a linebacker, had six tackles, including 1.5 TFL, against UCLA. After spending three years at New Mexico State, he then played for Texas for two seasons. Now, as a grad transfer, he is onto his third school with the Cougars, and is playing a solid role in the Cougar defense. Overall this year, he has 31 tackles, one sack, and two TFLs.

KYLE WILLIAMS – WR

Williams a UNLV transfer, caught eight passes for 85 yards in week six. This season, he has caught 24 passes for 386 yards and four touchdowns so far. After spending three seasons in the UNLV program with a total 0f nine touchdowns, he is on pace for a career year after making the jump up to the Power Five level at Washington State.
