Transfer Duo of the Week: Virginia’s Tony Muskett and Malik Washington

Transfers dominated all over the college football landscape this past weekend, but especially in Charlottesville.

Quarterback Tony Muskett (Monmouth transfer) put up big numbers in the Cavaliers’ win over William and Mary, as did wide receiver Malik Washington (Northwestern) to earn the two TPR’s Transfer Duo of the Week for Week Six.

MUSKETT WAS FIRING

Muskett played at Monmouth for three years (2020-22), completing a career-best 239 passes in 2021 for 2,651 yards and 25 touchdowns in a breakout year. Then, in 2022, he completed 64.1% of his passes for 1,997 yards and 17 touchdowns prior to making the jump to the Power Five level. He committed to Virginia on Dec. 11, shortly after longtime Cavalier Brennan Armstrong hopped into the portal.

In last weekend’s win over William and Mary, Muskett threw for 232 yards and two touchdowns while also running into the end zone for one TD on the ground.

WASHINGTON SHINES AGAIN

Washington was TPR’s third highest-rated WR this past week, catching seven passes for 112 yards and a touchdown. He now has five receiving touchdowns this season (T-2 among transfers) and he leads all transfers in receiving yards with 668.

Washington committed to Virginia after posting 65 catches and 694 yards with the Northwestern Wildcats in 2022. He committed with one year of eligibility remaining one day after Muskett, announcing his pledge to the Wahoos on Dec. 12 in the heat of CFB portal season.
