Farrell’s Favorites: Top 10 Transfer Commitments So Far

Published

on

The Transfer Portal has become a huge piece of the recruiting puzzle and is key to immediate roster change. The cycle goes from August 1 to August 1 and here are my top ten most impactful transfers so far.

1. QB Caleb Williams, Oklahoma to USC

We saw what Williams could do last season as a true freshman — supplant the Heisman favorite and play like the most dangerous dual-threat in the country. Year two under Lincoln Riley could be special.

2. QB Jaxon Dart, USC to Ole Miss

USC gains Williams but loses my No. 2 guy in Dart who showed a high ceiling as a freshman and should flourish under Lane Kiffin.

3. RB Jahmyr Gibbs, Georgia Tech to Alabama

Brian Robinson is gone and Alabama has talent at running back but Gibbs has the top end speed and receiving ability to be a smaller Najee Harris.

4. RB Zach Evans, TCU to Ole Miss

Evans was dynamic at times at TCU and lived up to his 5-star billing with less talent around him. At Ole Miss under Kiffin he could be the best back in the SEC.

5. QB Quinn Ewers, Ohio State to Texas

He has a golden arm. We know that. Once he picks up Steve Sarkisian’s offense, he has the weapons in Xavier Worthy, Bijan Robinson and others to be great.

6. WR Jermaine Burton, Georgia to Alabama

With Agiye Hall in the portal now, Burton becomes that much more important and hopes to have a Jameson Williams kind of transfer year.

7. DE Jared Verse, Albany to Florida State

Jermaine Johnson is off to the NFL after transferring and dominating following his stint at Georgia. Verse didn’t dominate at a Power Five level but he will now.

8. DT Mekhi Wingo, Missouri to LSU

The defensive tackle position at LSU has been somewhat average over the last many years but Wingo showed the ability to Mizzou to change that in a hurry.

9. S Brandon Joseph, Northwestern to Notre Dame

He might be low on this list actually as he’s a plug and play replacement for Kyle Hamilton in the defensive backfield.

10. CB Elias Ricks, LSU to Alabama

Another Alabama transfer? Yep. Ricks is a potential first rounder and should dominate in year one in Tuscaloosa. His ability to turn defense into offense is unmatched in the country.!
