Andrew Mukuba, Texas S

After moving from Zimbabwe to Austin at nine years old, Andrew Mukuba is on is his way back to Austin as the No.5 safety in the transfer portal. Mukuba tore up Friday Night Lights at Lyndon B Johnson High School. Not only as a defensive back, but also on offense and special teams. Mukuba’s lightning quickness and ball shark mentality shined on tape, and he committed to Clemson as a four-star recruit.

Mukuba’s college debut vs No.5 Georgia flashed the greatness he would show throughout his career. He recorded eight tackles, a pass breakup, and was the first true freshman DB to start a season opener for Clemson since 1973. Mukuba’s ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year award followed Bryan Bresee, making Clemson the first school with back-to-back winners.

Covering at Mukuba’s level is rare from a safety. He recorded 15 total defended passes in his three years at Clemson. Mukuba joins a Texas secondary coming off getting shredded in the Sugar Bowl by Michael Penix Jr. and co. Mukuba invites contact from the secondary, and looks to capitalize on his physicality in a hostile SEC.
