CJ Daniels, LSU WR

Brian Kelly replaces Biletnikoff semifinalist and first round lock Malik Nabers with the No.5 WR in the portal. CJ Daniels led all Liberty receivers in touchdowns and yards aiding the Flames in their march to 13-0. Despite a loss in their final game to Oregon, Daniels was a rare bright spot going for eight receptions and 79 yards.

A magical regular season for the Flames resulted in a brilliant year for Daniels. The 6-2 junior finished with 1,067 yards and 10 touchdowns. Daniels topped 100 yards five times including the C-USA Championship. In a 49-35 win over New Mexico State, Daniels hauled in 7 passes for 157 yards and a touchdown.

Nobody who watched Daniels this season would have any idea, but he battled injuries for most of 2022 and only played four games. This frustrating injury-riddled season immediately followed a redshirt-freshman season where he led the team in touchdowns. Daniels’s incredible bounce back season in 2023 showed a resilience that cannot be ignored. Look for Daniels to take over as WR1 for the Tigers next season with the departures of Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr. for the NFL Draft.
