Dusan Neskovic – Dartmouth
Another portal acquisition who will indefinitely aid Richmond’s developing wings and front court, the 6-foot-8 graduate transfer averaged a career-best 16.0 PPG and 4.0 RPG as a top-10 scorer in the Ivy League this past season.
Despite playing for a Dartmouth team that thoroughly struggled last season, Neskovic found ways to stand out with his positional size, efficient scoring and some of the Conference’s best three-point shooting. On the other end though, the Bosnia and Herzegovina native graded as one of the Ivy’s worst defenders last season. Essentially, will his offensive production be enough to offset his defensive woes for a Richmond team that was built on defense last season and finished 34th nationally in adjusted defensive efficiency according to kenpom.com.Â
He’ll bring veteran leadership to a Spiders roster departing seven seniors, can be a very effective offensive contributor and offers a lot of versatility to Mooney and Co. My bet would be on Neskovic to prove a critical role player on the offensive end but it’s tough to expect much defensive development out of a grad transfer.
George Washington III – Michigan
While the 6-foot-2 guard saw limited minutes for a Michigan program that managed its lowest win total since 1981-82, he arrives with a four-star pedigree and could offer a lot if he can get his development back on track.
Averaging just 1.2 PPG, shooting 19% from the field and 22% from three as a freshman despite making 22 appearances, question marks undoubtedly surround Washington’s arrival in Richmond.
Ultimately, it’s hard to blame last season’s struggles solely on Washington after being brought into a difficult situation in Ann Arbor and I expect we’ll see some major improvements with a move to the A10.
